Antifreeze system for a helicopter landing pad on an icebreaker vessel
Our customer was presented with a major problem: preventing ice formation on the emergency helicopter landing pad on an oil extraction ship in the North Sea.
We worked together for several months to find the most suitable solution: in addition to calculations and an in-depth study of the problem, in which there were many variables (material and dimensions of the platform, minimum ambient temperature, wind speed, insulation, etc.), numerous climate chamber tests were carried out simulating the most extreme weather situations.
Furthermore, to make the already complex issue worse, this was an ATEX T2 classified area.
The project was a success for both Temar S.r.l. and the customer, who installed the cable according to our instructions during construction of the ship, which was then sent on its mission.
