Digital heat-sensing cables

Heat-sensing cables are linear fire detectors that can effectively monitor very large or poorly accessible areas.

They require a very simple design and no maintenance.

Heat-sensing cables come with their own connection boxes and control units (optional).

Digital heat-sensing cables consist of two conductors coated with a polymer part and twisted together.

The polymer coating melts at a known temperature (different depending on the model).

This temperature will be the temperature at which the system will go into alarm conditions, as the polymer will leave the conductors uncovered as it melts, which will cause a short circuit, setting of a control unit alarm.

The cable will be damaged by the signalling, so the part of the cable that has gone into alarm conditions will have to be replaced in order to restore the system.

Based on the resistance change, the control unit is able to precisely identify the point where the overtemperature occurred that caused the alarm.

This type of cable can interface directly with most of the fire alarm control units on the market today.

Analogue heat-sensing cables have a standard PVC jacket. As an option, it is possible to have an additional Nylon jacket that is resistant to UV rays and aggressive atmospheres and/or a steel braided jacket to increase mechanical strength.
